The Fig Tree

With 800 species in the genus Ficus, figs are the largest genera of flowering plants. They serve as the keystone species in several ecosystems in the country, feeding a wide array of frugivores such as birds, monkeys and bats and forming the very cradle of life in most of wild India. Here's a little ode to the fig!

Field Biologists and Dung Beetles

Recently published illustrations

Apart from cartoons, I've been doing some exciting illustration projects on wildlife stories and articles. Some of these that I've done for Saevus are right here-

A double spread for an article by Dr. Dipankar Ghose of WWF India on wildlife corridors-

Another double spread for an article by AJT Johnsingh on the impact of feral dogs around reserve forests

A children's story on snow leopards-

And the cover for a handbook on butterflies-

Some more coming up shortly!

The Puffer Fish

Say hello to the impenetrable Puffer fish! Its first line of defense is to swallow air and puff up into a
spiny ball, and if this doesn’t deter the attacker enough, it is also the second most poisonous vertebrate on earth after the golden poison frog. Also, this cartoon sums up most conversations my dad and I have about money!

Published in Saevus magazine's 2nd anniversary issue last month.
