E-waste Management

E-waste or electronic waste that comprise discarded electronic devices are a growing environmental threat. In both developed and developing countries, e-waste contributes to landfills and its disposal poses serious biological hazards from the contaminants it contains. Management and recycling of e-waste involves deconstructing a device and extracting parts from, to avoid mining of raw material.

The cartoon appeared in The Hindu's BLink earlier this month.

  6. It's so sad that e-waste is such a massive problem! Other than taking our old phones, computers, tablets, and other electronic devices to specialized recycling centers is there something else that we as Americans can do to help manage the problem? Are there objects being thrown away that should be recycled but people are ignorant about the fact that they should take them to recycling centers? http://thinkarcoa.com/recycle
