Women's Day with Himalayan Monals

The Himalayan Monal is a pheasant found in the Himalayas, and is one of the most spectacular birds in the world. However, the female of the species appears drab in comparison to the male, but with very good reason. It is the lady who performs all the incubation and other nesting duties, while the male stands guard, so her humble plumage ensures that the nest does not attract a predator's attention.

Now go tell your woman why she is special this Women's Day!

  1. I am from the hills and Monal is the state bird. I appreciate this illustration so much- as a woman and as a wildlife enthusiast.
