Gaza and COP28
COP 28 will kickstart later this month in Dubai, a little over 2500 km from the site of the worst genocide in recent times. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu happens to among the Emirate's esteemed invitees. Would a global climate conference do justice to itself if the issue of dehumanization of an entire population is not addressed?

Birdwatching in Gaza
What is it like to be a birdwatcher in Gaza? My cousin, Dr. Sukrita Lahiri, a scholar on Palestinian gender studies, sent me this poignant piece by Marta Vidal and Ameera Harouda about birdwatching in Gaza, which prompted this comic, dedicated to the twin birdwatching duo, the Sirdah sisters, who co-authored the Gaza bird checklist.

Korea DMZ and endangered birds
Growing peace between North and South Korea could ironically pose a threat to threatened wetland birds such as the White-naped Crane, if the demilitarized zone between the two countries loses its status. Wildlife conservation works in funny ways! Comic from my column with The Hindu Sunday magazine.
