Friendly Neighbourhood Tree

How well do you know your friendly neighbourhood tree? The comic appears in my column with the Hindu Sunday

Join Seasonwatch's 'Spring Tree Quest' (15th to 18th March) and record casual observations of your favourite tree on the Seasonwatch app. While this is one great way of observing and learning more about your neighbourhood trees, it is also a unique citizen science programme that enables scientists to record seasonal changes in trees using your data!

Sloth Bears and Mahua Flowers

A comic on the Sloth Bear's penchant for Mahua, from my column with Mid-Day today. Mahua isn't just a popular drink among bears, but also people! And Mahua's credentials include not just alcohol, but also medicine.

If you're going out drinking tonight, don't forget to try the Mahua Macarena!

Barn Swallows in the Himalayas

A comic on Barn Swallows nesting in the Himalayas from my column with Saevus magazine. With this comic, I complete six years of my association with Saevus, which also reaches its six year milestone with its March 2018 issue! Congrats to Saevus, and a big thanks for their continued association with Green Humour.

The comic takes inspiration from Ms. Janaki Lenin's beautiful article on Barn Swallows, published in The Hindu.

The Flame of the Forest

The advent of spring in India means the blooming of the Palash (Butea monosperma). Its bright red flowers earn it the nickname 'Flame of the Forest' and attract several 'nectaroholics' such as the drongos and starlings (as in the comic), among others. Did you know that the town of Plashi where the Battle of Plassey was fought, is named after this tree? (Thanks to Mr. Bikram Grewal for the trivia!)

The comic appears in my column with The Hindu BL-ink this weekend.
