Deforestation and habitat loss are the biggest contributors to the extinction of wildlife species across the globe. Illegal logging is prevalent in several countries including India. Its impacts are not just limited to wild animals, but extend to tribes and communities that depend on forests for their subsistence, and contribute in a huge way to global warming and climate change. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change listed agriculture as the biggest direct cause of deforestation.
