A comic inspired partly by Douglas Dewar's essay 'A Naturalist in a Railway Train', and partly by true incidents, that appears in my column with Saevus magazine this month. I am sure every Indian birdwatcher who has taken a train journey will relate.
Hmm...there is a stretch between Chennai and Hyderabad which goes along the edges of Pulicat lake...you can recognize the birders as they are the ones at the open train doors. -Deepa.
That's how I started watching birds; commuting weekly between Kochi and Trivandrum and too bored reading books and magazines! That was in the mid-80s and I used to sit at the entrance/exit and with a binoculars too!
