Golf and the Foxes

Although foxes are skilled hunters, a significant part of their diet comes from scavenging and resorting to piracy, stealing eggs and fledglings from the nests of ground-dwelling birds like quails and partridges. Foxes are known to mate for life and often hunt in pairs. Habitat loss from urbanization is the main conservation threat most of India's fox species face, followed by poaching for their fur.

Frigate Dates

Frigate birds on 'Man of War Birds' are sea birds of the family Fregatidae. They are pellagic fish eaters, that hunt their food on the wing. They often resort to piracy, stealng food from the more efficient hunters such as terns, and this behaviour also gives them the nickname of 'Piratebird'. The duration of parental care in frigatebirds is known to be the longest for any bird! Frigatebirds also have the largest wingspan to body ratio for any bird! For this reason, they are unable to walk or swim, and prefer to stay aloft, often doing so for more than a week!

Male Frigatebirds inflate their red gular pouches to attract females during the breeding season.

Chauvinism and more

Peacocks like most birds have brilliantly colored plumage while the hens have dull colors. this is because the male has to have a very attractive plumage to ensure he gets good female attention when it is mating time. the female on the other hand, has no such worries. she however, has to protect her nest and eggs from predators, and her dull color enables her to do just that- merge with the surroundings and be difficult to spot.
